Primary and Urgent Care healthcare practitioners will find this course offers an update about the diagnosis and treatment of patients with spine pathology and pain. Patients with back pain are typically seen first in the primary or urgent care setting. An appropriate algorithm for diagnosis, immediate care and referral is therefore a critical tool for primary and urgent care physicians, nurses and therapists to provide optimal, evidence based care. Faculty will refresh spine anatomy and address diagnostic tools. Treatment options discussed include non-operative care, such as pharmaceutical and physical therapy, and interventional and surgical procedures. Breakout sessions are intertwined with lectures. These sessions offer small group interaction with faculty, as well as hands-on practice with physical therapies and sawbone models. See The 2012 Faculty and Agenda
